The governorship candidate of the Movement for the Restoration and Defense of Democracy (MRDD), Engr. Lucky Oyovwi has congratulated Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party as the winner of the March 9th governorship election in the state.
Oyovwi said although he contested to win the election, he would respect the wish of the people of the state who had chosen Governor Okowa to remain in power in the four years.
In a press statement signed by the MRDD’s governorship and made available to WARRI TODAY on Tuesday in Asaba, pointed out that his party would support the PDP-led government of Okowa in their efforts towards raising the standard of living in the state reasons upon which he contested.
While accepting to work with the Okowa’s government, Oyovwi stated, “It is therefore just right for everyone to support his Excellency Governor Okowa for the development of our beloved State. We are capable and willing, and therefore look forward to working with Governor Okowa towards Human Capital Development (HCD) and Infrastructural Development to make our Delta State an Investors Haven.”
He added that the victory of the incumbent governor signifies Deltans’ quest for equity, peace and unity. He urged Okowa to strive to meet the aspirations of the people of the state who voted for him overwhelmingly at the polls.
The statement read, “I write to congratulate His Excellency, Governor IfeanyiArthur Okowa for his well-deserved victory as Delta State governor in the just concluded Governorship election in the State.
“Your victory clearly signifies Deltans quest for Equity, Peace and Unity, and I am confident that you will improve on your first term achievements in extending your ‘SMART’ agenda to every ‘Nook and Cranny’ of the State.
“I therefore pray Almighty GOD grant you His Wisdom, Grace and Good Health to continue to steer the affairs of the State to its desired height.
“Delta State is our State and as I mentioned during my campaign, my desire is for the betterment of Delta State for every Deltan, and I know your SMART Agenda; “Prosperity for All Deltans” is also for progress and advancement of the state.”
Oyovwi posited that now that elections were over, all Deltans including all contestants in the election should join hands with the present administration in building a progressive and peaceful state.
“Now that the elections are over, Collaboration, Inclusiveness and Participatory approach are therefore expected for greater harmonyin maintaining existing Peace and Progress towards making the people’s lives extraordinarily better.
“In line with the aforementioned, Governor Okowa during his victory
thanksgiving service had urged his political opponents and all Deltans to join
hands with him in building a greater Delta State”, the MRDD governorship
candidate added.
