Delta State governorship candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Dr. Goodnews Agbi, has called on Deltans to reject the state governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Deputy President of the Senate, Obarisi Ovie Omo-Agege, at the 2023 general elections with their votes.
Agbi, a renowned scholar and politician, accused Omo-Agege of betraying his political mentors and friends just to tout his political image.
In a statement personally signed by him, the state NNPP governorship candidate described the dedication of Omo-Agege campaign council to God as “attempt to bribe God which would not work.”
Agbi, in the statement titled “You Can Deceive Man But You Cannot Deceive God”, said Omo-Agege has no ‘Locus Standi’ to accuse Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of being a traitor and betrayal when he is also a serial traitor.
Omo-Agege, who represents Delta Central in the Nigerian Senate, has consistently accused Okowa, who is the vice-presidential candidate of the PDP of betraying people of the South and colleague governors after hosting a meeting where southern governors agreed that the 2023 presidency should be zoned to the South.
The APC governorship candidate further accused Okowa of reneging on the agreement just to serve selfish political ambition.
But Agbi in the statement accused Omo-Agege, “You can bribe man by telling serial lies, serial truce breaker, exhibiting deceits, betray your mentors and friends but you cannot deceive God. God is not a man that you can bribe with money.
“Here is a man who came to a party where he met respectable leaders but succeeded in scheming them out to make himself the sole administrator, and then the sole candidate, now you want God to hear your prayers, which God?’.’
He called on Deltans to reject Omo-Agege at the poll, adding that Delta does not need someone that cannot be trusted as governor.
According to him, “We shall see in 2023. After losing gallantly, he will go back to his family in the US. He cannot come and fish In Delta and take his harvest to the US.
“Having gratuitously benefited from the benevolent grace, he cunningly visits his party leaders with malevolent plots seeking support for his governorship ambition. Deltans should reject him.”
Agbi, however, called on Delta electorate to vote him as the next governor of the state, stressing that he has the capacity and experience to give the state better and transparent governance as governor of the oil-rich state.
