Delta 2023: Ovie Agas Tops DCA’s Guber Assessment Committee Report, Group Adopts Him As Candidate

The Governorship Aspirants Assessment Committee set up by Delta Collective Assembly, DCA, a political pressure group within the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has submitted its report to the General Assembly of the group in line with the following terms of reference:

  1. Educational qualification;
  2. Aspirant’s belief in the rotation principle;
  3. Cognate/relevant experience;
  4. Being de-tribalised;
  5. Disposition to being Pan Deltan;
  6. Proven integrity;
  7. Temperament;
  8. Accessibility;
  9. Political structure in the 25 LGAs;
  10. Friendliness with the youths;
  11. Gender friendliness; 12. Support for widows; 13. Friendliness with the elderly;
  12. Loyalty to all Governors from 1999 till date;
  13. Listening to complaints;
  14. Projected personal financial capacity/reputation to attract funds; as well as
  15. Public perception of morals;

The Committee’s Report presented by its Chairman, Chief Alfred Onyenwosa says Rt. Hon. Festus Ovie Agas scored 75.2%; Olorogun David Edevbie, 53.22%; Chief James Augoye, 52.31%; Chief Hon Ejaife Odebala, 50.13%; Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, 45.69; Chief Fred Majemite, 44.95; and Barr. Peter Mrakpor, 44.7%.

According to the Report, Chief Abel Esievo scored 43.41%; Sen.Emmanuel Aguariavwodo, 42.24%; Evang Akpo Ofomona, 40.89%; Hon. Efe Ofobruku, 40.5%; Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi, 36.26%; and Chief Bright Edejegwhro, 35.93%.

The Report shows that Chief of Staff Govt. House, Hon. Festus Ovie Agas has the highest score of 75.2%, followed by Olorogun David Edevbie who scored 53.22%, while Chief James Agouye emerged third with 52.31%.

The DCA Assessment Committee Chairman, Chief Onyenwosa said that the Committee painstakingly and diligently assessed the thirteen aspirants in line with the stated terms of reference, and thanked its members for their commitment, and the entire group for the opportunity given them to serve.

Satisfied with the report of the Assessment Committee, Hon Emeka Joseph Atagbuzia from Oshimili South LGA moved a motion that the report be accepted by the DCA’s General Assembly and was seconded by Uvwie LGA Coordinator of DCA, Mr Anderson Ebiuiwhe.

Following the DCA’s acceptance of the Assessment Committee’s report, Hon Emmanuel Udora from Oshimili South LGA commended members of the Committee for a detailed, transparent, scientific, credible and unbiased job, and moved a motion for the adoption of Rt. Hon. Festus Ovie Agas as the candidate that would be supported by the DCA for the PDP gubernatorial elections in 2023, being the aspirant with the highest score among the thirteen assessed by the DCA’s Committee.

The motion was seconded by Hon. Dr. J.E Orogun and Rt. Hon. Festus Ovie Agas was adopted as the aspirant to be supported by DCA in the 2023 gubernatorial election of Delta State.

Delta Collective Assembly (DCA) is a formidable political pressure group of only PDP members drawn from the 25 LGAs of Delta State with a vision to institutionalize governorship transition, based on fair, smooth, and peaceful power rotation among the three Senatorial Districts of Delta State.

The mission of DCA is to promote the existing culture of clockwise rotation of governorship position among the three senatorial districts, with a view to giving everyone a sense of belonging, towards fostering peace and unity in Delta State.
