The Delta State governorship candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Engr. Goodnews Agbi, has dismissed rumour that he was planning to step down from the forthcoming gubernatorial race in the state.
Agbi, who fingered the Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate and governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, for being behind the allegation, said he was very in the race for the March 11 governorship election.
NNPP governorship candidate spoke on Friday when he inaugurated the new executive of the party for Oyede ward 12 in Isoko North Local Government Area of the state.
The renowned academia told party faithful during the inauguration of the exco to work assiduously for the victory of the party in the polls.
He said he remains the best governorship candidate for the 2023 governorship election in the state, calling on Deltans to reject Senator Omo-Agege of the APC and other governorship candidates with questionable characters.
Agbi accused the erstwhile chairman of Oyede ward of engaging in anti party activities with opposition APC, saying his removal had position the party on the path of victory.
“the erstwhile chairman is an agent of APC in the Ward, who is in connivance with the State NNPP secretary, a cousin of Omo-Agege, cooked up forged signatures of non existence people in my Oyede ward 12, and fake suspension letter to tarnish my image”, the NNPP governorship candidate alleged.
Agbi further said that the APC-led government has squeezed life out of the ordinary Nigerians and, charged Deltans to vote out APC.
Agbi said though the recent CBN monetary policy was good, lamented its poor implementation has subjected Nigerians to unbearable hardship.
“It is good because evil and superbly corrupt politicians who were hoping of using stolen money to buy their way into Government will be highly disappointed.
“Omo-Agege is the most deceitful politician in Delta State. He is so greedy, and will destroy the economy of Delta State if voted into power. He will destroy anybody, friends, colleagues, mentors and confidants because of his ambitions”, he further alleged.
Agbi told the cheering crowd to vote him as their next governor, added, “I’m the INEC Candidate of NNPP. I’m in the ballot for March 11, 2023 election. I am not contemplating of stepping down from the race. So all the Omo-Agege’s plots and propaganda will not dampen my spirit.”
