The Delta State governorship candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Dr. Goodnews Agbi, has boasted he will succeed Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as the next governor of the state in the 2023 gubernatorial election.
Agbi, however, admitted that his major rival in the forthcoming governorship election in the state is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.
The university don also charged Deltans to reject the candidates of the All Progressives Congress including the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, who is one of the frontrunners for the governorship seat in next year’s election.
The NNPP governorship candidate spoke when he hosted an enlarged meeting of the State Executive, local government chairmen and candidates of the NNPP in Oleh, the Isoko South local government headquarters.
Agbi, who specifically advised Deltans to distant themselves from the ruling APC and other parties which had consistently failed the people of the state by electing candidates with clear ideology to put the state on the path of development and economic prosperity.
The Isoko-born politician noted that NNPP stands a better chance with him as the governorship candidate to defeat PDP and other parties running against in the 2023 general elections.
He admonished Deltans to avoid any party with its candidate as a sole administrator like leprosy, adding that @Such parties should be kept at arm’s length. We should question their antecedents, the political trajectory of some of these candidates, who are filled with deceits, betrayals, thievery, cunning, truce breaker, guileful and with a propensity to cheat.
Dr Agbi promised to unravel a particular party’s candidate who has so much skeletons in his cupboard as campaigns progresses.
“Deltans should avoid candidates whose children and wives are not in Delta State or the country and, does not have any social stake in the State. They will just put the treasury of the State in their back pockets and zoom off.
“My wife is in Delta. They should tell Deltans where their wives and children are, during the campaigns.” ‘I am equally aware that the PDP governorship candidate’s wife is in Delta, including his Excellency, the present Governor and the Vice Presidential Candidate of the PDP’’, Agbi said.
He, however, charged NNPP faithful to braze up for rigorous campaigns ahead of the 2023 general elections.
While stating with the composition of the Campaign Council, the stage is set for vigorous campaigns across the nooks and crannies of Delta State, Agbi expressed hope that with the Kwankwasyya Movement in the state, collapsing into the NNPP, he is sure of victory.
He urged the local government chairmen to form the wards campaign council and the wards chairmen to form the unit campaign organ.
He also said that the State Campaign Council would soon be formally inaugurated by the party next week.
‘’I am fully ready to takeover the government House in 2023. I have X-rayed all the candidates and can beat my chest that, with little hard work, we will win the governorship election.
“My real and major challenger is PDP and its governorship candidate, Sheriff Oborevwori. We should be of good cheer as 2023 shall usher in a new Delta’’, he added.
