The Provost, Anwai Campus of the Delta State University (DELSU), Professor Patrick Oghuvbu, is dead.
Oghuvbu reportedly died of cardiac arrest on Wednesday morning.
The professor of Education Administration was alleged to have reportedly collapsed and rushed to a hospital where he died.
Oghuvbu’s passage was learnt to have thrown the university main campus in Abraka and its Anwai campus into mourning.
A source at DELSU disclosed, “The provost was rusted to the hospital following the collapse, and we confirm later that he could not make it. He may have died of cardiac failure.”
The deceased was a former Dean of Faculty of Law, a former Director of the Institute of Education; before his latest position as Provost of Anwai campus of the institution.
“It is a big loss to the university. We will all miss him very much; his superior arguments, his maturity and he was never hot-tempered. He listened, was a good listener and a conciliator,” the source added.
When contacted, DELSU’s Public Relations Officer, Edward Agbure, confirmed the sad incident.
He, however, could give details as to what led to the death of the renowned professor.
Agbure described the death of the late provost as devastating to the university community.
