As part of its rebranding efforts as well as to promote excellence and better performance, the management of the Delta Broadcasting Service (DBS), Warri, has honoured nine hardworking personnel of the station for their sterling performance in the year 2020.
DBS Warri is the operator of the state-owned Delta Rainbow Television (DRTV) and Radio Delta (88.6 FM) Warri.
The winners were drawn from the various departments of the station including News and Current Affairs, Presentation, Programmes and Commercials.
The staff were honoured with awards of excellence as the best staff for 2020 on Friday at a ceremony organised by management of the station chaired by its General Manager, Pastor Malcolm Oteri.
Pastor Oteri, flanked by other top management officers of the station including the DBS Warri NUJ chairman, Comrade Sonia Unobunjo, said the award ceremony was part of innovations being introduced in the rebranding efforts by management.

He noted that his desire and that of management team was to see DBS Warri remains the best and most authoritative broadcasting station in the state.
The DBS Warri GM, while thanking management and staff for their continued support since his appointment as General Manager, noted that the idea behind the award was to spur staff of the station to do better.
Oteri stated further that his reign would continue to priortise the welfare of staff as well as providing enabling environment for personnel of the station to deliver on any given assignment or responsibility.
The DBS Warri boss appealed and urged staff to continue to exhibit discipline, dedication and remained motivated in their delivery to the people of the state.

In their respective remarks, chairperson of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) DBS Warri Chapel, Comrade Unobunjo and her Radio Television Threatre and Arts Workers Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU) DBS Warri, Comrade Isaac Oboh, commended management for the awards, saying it will enhance better performance.
At the ceremony, Mr. Linus Chima won the Best Reporter of the Year 2020, Comrade John Glover emerged the best staff in News and Current Affairs Department, Mrs. Ese Pius-Oghoghorie took home the Best Presenter and Broadcaster of the year and, Mr. Matthew Onokpoma, was overall best staff.
Others are; Mr Wilson Onose (Best Admin. Staff), Mr John Chukwuma (Best Staff, Programmes), Mrs Tosan Onokesan (Commercials) Mrs. Gladys Opone (Accounting) and Mr Abraham Egede (Best Engineering Staff).

The award recipients were presented with letters of commendation, plaques and cash gifts by the General Manager, Pastor Oteri, on behalf of DBS Warri management.
The ceremony was attended by Pastor Patrick Edema, Chief Emore Onuvie, Daniel Oji (former Delta NUJ Caretaker Committee chairman), Ufuoma Omologe, Theophilus Okpare Onojeghen (Managing Editor, NIGER DELTA TODAY Online), Mrs. Itse Igbodje among others.
