COVID-19: Nigeria Tests 90,464 Persons As Confirmed Cases Now 15682

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) says a total of 90,464 samples have so far been tested in the last four months for coronavirus in the country.

It stated this while revealing 501 new cases of the disease on Saturday.

NCDC said the cases were recorded in 35 states and the FCT (Abuja).

Cross River remains the only state in Nigeria yet to record any case of the pandemic.

According to the figures released by the disease control body on Saturday, Lagos State has recorded over 7000 of the total confirmed cases in the country.

Lagos State recorded the country’s index case on February 27. The index case was an Italian who later tested negative to the virus.

Nigeria has been having spike number of confirmed since the easing of the nationwide lockdown.

The country’s government cited economy reasons for the relaxation of the pandemic lockdown with interstates movement still being enforced.

NCDC disclosed that the 501 new cases were recorded in FCT and 24 states including Delta, Edo, Ondo, Rivers, Akwa Ibom nd Lagos States.

It added that 5101 patients have recovered from the disease while 407 cases have died.

“501 new cases of #COVID19 Lagos-195 FCT-50 Kano-42 Kaduna-27 Edo-26 Oyo-22 Imo-21 Gombe-17 Benue-12 Enugu-12 Delta-11 Anambra-11 Ebonyi-10 Nasarawa-9 Ogun-9 Bauchi-8 Kebbi-4 Akwa Ibom-3 Jigawa-3 Katsina-3 Yobe-2 Borno-2 Kwara-1 Ondo-1.”

“15682 confirmed 5101 discharged 407 deaths”, the figures added.
