The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has debunked reports claiming the centre had spent N1 billion on sending SMS on updating Nigerians on COVID-19 pandemic.
NCDC described the reports as ‘false’ and should be disregarded by Nigerians.
In a statement through its verified Twitter handle on Thursday, the agency noted that it had received support from the various Telecom providers in the country.
According to it, “The headline claiming that NCDC has spent N1 billion on SMS to Nigerians is FALSE
“While communication through SMS is a key part of our #COVID19 response strategy, this has been largely provided as in-kind support by @AirtelNigeria @MTNNG @GloWorld”
