COVID-19: Dr Ebeye lauds Gov. Okowa, Distributes facemasks


In order to ensure total compliance with the COVID-19 preventive measures outlined by the NCDC and the Delta State government compulsory use of facemask in public places, the Medical Director, Dominion Care Medical Center (DCMC), Obiaruku, Dr. Monday Ebeye and the Center for Education Development and Skill Acquisition Initiative (CEDESA) have organized a sensitization rally and distribution of hundreds of facemasks in communities Ukwuani local government.


During the sensitization rally and distribution of facemasks, Dr Ebeye called on the people to abide by all the preventive guidelines for the virus by the NCDC even as he noted that, Coronavirus is real but can be prevented by simply observing scientifically proven preventive measures.


The Medical Director stated that regular hand washing, avoiding crowd, cleaning and disinfecting surfaces that are frequently touched, avoid touching the face and physical/social distancing can go a long way to mitigate the spread of the virus.


Dr Ebeye who spoke through the CEDESA Manager, Mr Aiya Tim also noted that wearing of facemask in public places should be taken seriously just as he advocated for self-quarantine when sick.

According to him, self medication is as dangerous as whatever sickness one is trying treat with over the counter drugs; “it is important that people stay at home when they feel sick or go for proper check up instead of resorting to self medication. I can tell you that self medication is very dangerous and more expensive at the long run”, he said.


Dr Ebeye also thanked the Sen. Dr Ifeanyi Okowa-Led government for what he described as a proactive and pragmatic step by locking down the state which according to him helped in no mean measure to slow down the spread of the virus. He also thanked the state government for the release of palliatives to the vulnerables across the 25 LGAs in the state while the lockdown last.


He noted that the doors of Dominion Care Medical Center is open and accessible to the government and individuals at any time.

Meanwhile, Mr Aiya thanked Dr Ebeye for partnering with CEDESA in organizing the sensitization rally and distribution of facemasks to the people free of charge; he therefore prayed God to bless him and increase DCMC.
