She disclosed that DIWA has distributed palliatives worth several millions of naira across communities in the state; “this is not the first place that we are distributing food items to people, the truth is, just as our name implies, we have gone round almost all the communities in Delta North reaching out to the needy, the aged and widows amongst us”, she said.

The group enlightened the beneficiaries on COVID-19 preventive measures such as regular hand washing under running water with soap, the use of hand sanitizers, the proper use of facemask especially in public places amongst other guidelines.

DIWA established the fact that COVID-19 is real and so is hunger. According to them, “while there are many preventive measures to curb the spread and transmission of the virus there are very few ways of controlling hunger – availability of food and eating. DIWA is here today and always to support you,” she added.

Some of the items distributed include; bags of bean, bags of rice, cartons of vegetable oil, cartoons of noodles, onions, salt, eggs, facemasks and hand sanitizers.

In their separate remarks, the beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the Delta Ibo Women Association and prayed God to continue to bless the group especially one of their daughters, Mrs Fidelia Ossai-Chukumah who served as the immediate past president of the group.
