COVID-19: Delta Curfew Remains 7pm -6am Says SSG

The Delta State Government says the curfew imposed to curtail the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in the state remains in force despite the recent relaxation by the federal government.

It noted that despite the relaxation of the curfew by the Presidential Task Force now between the hours 10pm to 4am daily, the state would continue to operate between 7pm and 6am.

 The Secretary to the Delta State Government, Mr. Chiedu Ebie, disclosed the development in Asaba on Friday during a press briefing.

Ebie said Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, has directed security agencies in the state to ensure that residents complied with the slated time.

“Covid-19 is real and you don’t need government to pursue you to obey set protocols; we ensure that boundaries across the state are monitored, though, it has not been an easy task because some people just want to flout government’s directives.

“The curfew is still in place from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. and I plead with all Deltans to obey the advice of government.

“I thank the private sector for their support which has come in different forms – cash, food items, medical consumables, among others, ” Ebie said.
