Card reader fails to capture Ebonyi Deputy Governor

Accreditation and voting has commenced in Ebonyi state with high turnout of voters in some voting units in the state.
Correspondent who is monitoring the Election observed that there was card reader malfunctioning in some polling units.


At Nwakpu market square ward, Ebonyi deputy Governor Barr kelechi Igwe and wife however could not be accredited by the card reader and has to use manual to vote because there was no provision for back up.


There was also challenges of card reader malfunctioning at Ndinkwuegu ward 5 unit 003, were two card readers failed but the INEC officials said that they would work with the functioning two as they were given 4 card readers by the independent electoral commission.


Addressing journalists shortly after voting, the deputy Governor Barr kelechi Igwe expressed disappointment on the failure of the card reader to capture him but commended INEC for providing an alternative for those who card reader failed to authenticate.

Meanwhile, Two persons have been allegedly shot dead while three others were injured in Amagu ward 1 in Ikwo local government area of the state   on Friday night.


Police Commissioner in the state, Awosola Awotunde confirmed the incident to journalists.


He said the incident followed a clash between supporters of two political parties in the state .


“The injured ones are being treated in the hospital. We are treating them as suspects for now as they were involved in the clash”, he said.
