President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed a Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, as the acting Inspector-General of Police.
Buhari said Baba’s appointment is with immediate effect.
This is coming as IGP Mohammed Adamu was still in Imo State to ascertained the level of damage caused during the attack on the Imo State Police Command headquarters.

Baba’s appointment was disclosed by the Minister of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi, while addressing State House correspondents in Abuja on Tuesday.
Baba is taking over from Mohammed Adamu, whose tenure Buhari extended for three months on February 4.
He has only spent about two months out of the three-month extension.
Baba was one time commissioner of police in Delta State.
