Mrs Victoria Aguiyi-Ironsi, wife of late Head Nigerian head of State, Major-General Aguiyi-Ironsi, is dead.
She died on Monday, 23rd August, 2021, aged 97.
Mrs. Aguiyi-Ironsi who would have been 98 years on 21st November, died when her family members and all well wishers were preparing for her birthday bash.
Popularly called “Ironside”, her husband was the Head of State and Supreme Commander of the National Military Government between January and July 1966.
He was overthrown and assassinated together with Lt. col. Adekunle Fajuyi, (Governeor of Western Region) in the 1966 Nigerian counter-coup.
