Travellers plying the Uwheru section of Ughelli-Port Harcourt East-West Road have been left stranded as protesting youths blocked traffic flow over a reported killing of an indigene of Uwheru town by armed herdsmen in Ughelli North LGA of Delta State.
The protesters were said to have blocked the Road with the corpse of the slain youth who was killed in his farm on Monday morning.
It was gathered that youths joined by women angrily took the remains of the victim to the road in protest over the incessant killings by Fulani herdsmen in the area.
A traveler stocked at the Uwheru section of the Ughelli-Port Harcourt Road told our correspondent that many travellers who are trapped in panic over the development.
Communities in Uwheru Kingdom in Delta have remained under constant attacks by herdsmen with tens of persons reportedly killed in the past.
It was gathered that the protesters also attacked vehicles and passengers who tried to force their way out of the gridlock caused by the protesters.
It was further learnt that police operatives deployed to return normalcy were forced back by the protesters.
Meanwhile, the protesters were later dispatched by military operatives deployed to allow vehicular movement.
The protesters called on the Federal and Delta governments to stop the killings by herdsmen who have takeover their farmlands.
