The Supreme Court will hear the appeal petition filed by the governorship candidate of the All Progrogressives Congress (APC), Mr. Tonye Cole, challenging the victory of Governor Siminalayi Fubara in the last governorship election in Rivers State.

The apex court will conduct the hearing today (Monday) in Abuja, the nation’s capital territory.

Fubara, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was declared the winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Cole, who came second in the contest, but dissatisfied with the result had challenged the outcome of the election at the tribunal and appeal court, but lost.

The APC candidate alleged that Fubara did not resign as Accountant General of the state under the deadline stipulated by the constitution and the Electoral Act.
