The Nigerian Senate on Tuesday suspended for three months Senator Abdul Ningi over his allegation that the 2024 budget was padded.
Senator Ningi, who is representing Bauchi Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, was also asked to tender unreserved apology to the National Assembly for misinforming the public.
The Senator was slammed with the three months suspension during Tuesday plenary presided by the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio.
The lawmaker, who was elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had reportedly indicted the National Assembly for padding the 2024 budget with a whooping sum of N3tn.
The allegation of padding had been denied by the Presidency and the National Assembly before Tuesday’s plenary.
