The Attorney General and Commissioner Of Justice in Rivers State, Professor Zacchaeus Adangor, has announced his resignation from the State Executive Council.
Adangor’s resignation was contained in a resignation letter to Governor Similanayi Fubara dated December 14, 2023.
He informed the Governor that he chose to resign from his government out of personal conviction.
Adangor’s resignation is not unconnected with the feud between Governor Fubara and his predecessor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
The former Commissioner for Justice was a member of former Governor Nyesom Wike’s government, expressed gratitude to the governor for recognizing his suitability for the position.
“I hereby give Your Excellency Notice of my resignation as the Honourable Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Rivers State with effect from the date of this letter
“For the avoidance of doubt, my resignation from the said office is based on personal principles
“I wish to thank Your Excellency for the opportunity and privilege granted me to serve in your administration as a member of the cabinet. My Family and I are indebted to Your Excellency in gratitude,” the letter read in part.
The resignation comes on the heels of the demolition of the State House of Assembly at the instance of Fubara and presentation of the 2024 budget to four pro-Fubara lawmakers led by Edison Ehie.
