ICYMI: Prominent Nigerian Medical Doctor, PC Obakponovwe, Dies At 78

A popular medical doctor and founder of UFOR Hospital in Ughelli, Delta State, Dr. Peter Claver Obakponovwe, is dead.

The renowned medical doctor who had been sick reportedly died on Wednesday morning.

He was aged 78.

He’s one of the first Urhobo trained medical doctors in Urhobo to establish a private hospital in Delta State.

The deceased hailed from Ufor, a satellite village of Okpara Town in Agbon Kingdom, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.

Obakponovwe established Ufor Hospital in 1978 and named it after his community.

He graduated from the prestigious University of Ibadan where he studied Medicine. He attained fame as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons as well as a Fellow of the International College of Surgeons.

Dr. Obakponovwe was the President of the forum of Presidents-General of the 24 kingdoms of Urhoboland.
