Frontline youth leader and chairman of the Delta State Technical Education Board, Comrade Michael Akpobire, has resigned his appointment with the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa-led administration.
Akpobire, who was also an Executive Assistant (Technical Education) to Okowa, announced his resignation in a letter on Thursday addressed to the Secretary to the State Government, Chief Patrick Ukah.
The former student leader, while thanking Governor Okowa for his appointment, did not state the reason (s) for his resignation.
According to the letter, Akpobire said, “Everything that has a beginning must have an end.
“My service to this Government as Executive Assistant (Technical Education) and chairman of the Technical Education Board has come to an end.
“I will henceforth deploy my potentials to more fulfilling enterprise/platforms. Thank you for finding me worthy to serve.”
However, independent investigation by NIGER DELTA TODAY on Thursday revealed that Akpobire also resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to enable him join the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).
Akpobire, who hails from Isoko North LGA, is being rumoured to be planning to dump the PDP for APC when the Senator Ovie Omo-Agege campaign council resumes her ward-to-ward campaign storms Oleh, headquarters of Isoko North, on Friday.
The former union leader was one of the staunch supporters of Olorogun David Edevbie who lost the PDP governorship ticket to the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Chief Sheriff Oborevwori.
Several Edevbie’s supporters have been leaving the PDP for the APC ahead of the governorship election in the state in March.
