Social media giants – Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp – have finally restored their services hours after their services were disrupted globally.
Their services have been out of reach since midafternoon throwing hundreds of their users into confusion and lamentations.
At about 11pm Nigeria time, Instagram, mostly used by celebrities, restored their operation and then, Facebook, before WhatsApp partially restore their services minutes later.
The social networking site were hit by a massive outage Monday over its effect on teens and misinformation.
AFP had earlier reported that Tracker Downdetector was showing outages in heavily populated areas like Washington and Paris, with problems being reported from around 1545 GMT.
The three platforms are owned by Mark Zuckerberg, owner of Facebook, but later acquired Instagram and WhatsApp.

“We’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing our apps and products,” Facebook spokesman Andy Stone said on Twitter.
Users trying to access Facebook in affected areas were greeted with the message: “Something went wrong. We’re working on it and we’ll get it fixed as soon as we can.”
According to report by Forbes, Zuckerberg already lost $5.9 billion during the period of the outage.
Forbe in the report said Zuckerberg’s fortune declined by $5.9 billion to a mere $117 billion in total. “He’s now the world’s sixth richest person”, Forbes was further quoted. Top lieutenent Sheryl Sandberg saw her wealth fall to $1.9 billion.
