It was further gathered that the hoodlums waited until their target gave up the ghost before zooming off to an unknown destination.
It was not clear if the bandits also attacked the individual that the slain mobile cop was meant to protect.
The rate of criminality especially in the Warri and Effurun axises of the state has been on the increase, a situation that forced Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to inaugurate a special security outfit, “Operation Delta Hawk”, on Thursday.
At least five mobile policemen have been killed and their arms carted away within the past two months, in the state.
The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, confirmed the incident when contacted.
She could not, however, give further details about the deceased cop.
