Gunmen Kill Delta-Born NIS Provost In Imo

The Provost of the Imo State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Okiemute Mrere, has been reported murdered by unknown gunmen.

Mrere, a Deputy Superintendent of NIS, hailed from Delta State. He’s an Urhobo by tribe.

It was gathered that late NIS official had been missing since on Saturday night until his lifeless body was recovered on Sunday.

The spokesperson of the Imo Command of NIS, Winifred Oguh, confirmed the development on Monday.

Mrere was travelled to Imo few months again from the Sokoto Command of the service after serving at the NIS Headquarters in Abuja.

The deceased remains was discovered on Sunday morning in an outskirt of Owerri, the state capital.

Several officials of the service said the deceased officer was shot severally by his killers while his official Hilux vehicle was riddled with bullets.

Oguh said the command was still investigating the circumstance surrounding the officer’s death.

His body was found a day after gunmen ambushed and killed a former political Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan, Ahmed Gulak in Imo State.
