Gunmen Kidnap Delta Worshippers While Returning From Burial In Edo, Demand N60m

Gunmen on Friday attacked a bus conveying members of a popular Church in Delta State while returning from a burial ceremony in Akoko-Edo in Edo State, kidnapping no fewer than three occupants.

The victims are all members of God’s Will Mission owned by popular preacher, Archbishop Solomon Gbakara with headquarters in Orhuwhorun in Udu, Delta State

It was gathered that the gunmen attacked the bus along Auchi-Benin road whisking all occupants including the driver of the vehicle.

It was further learnt that some of the occupants escaped from the abductors while being escorted to the kidnappers den.

The bus said to be conveying about 13 of the church members was waylaid amidst sporadic gunshots.

One of the church members earlier held by the kidnappers confirmed the incident to NIGER DELTA TODAY on Saturday saying “It took the grace of God for me to escape from the hoodlums”.

The source added that the kidnappers are demanding N20million each to free their victims.

Our source added that the incident had been reported with the Edo State Police Command on Saturday.

One of the church elders who was contacted by NIGER DELTA TODAY confirmed the abduction of the Church worshippers.

“The kidnappers are demanding N60 million for three our Church members who could not escaped. They were returning from a member’s burial at Akoko-Edo when the gunmen struck.

“We are praying for their safe return. The family of the victims don’t have N100,000 not to say N60 million being demanded by the kidnappers”, the source added.
