Explosion Hits Trans Niger Crude Oil Pipeline In Rivers

The popular Trans Niger Pipeline in Bodo, Gokana local government area of Rivers State is currently on fire after a loud explosion sound in the area.

It was gathered that the Trans Niger Pipeline is a major federal transport line supplying crude oil to the Bonny Export Terminal in Rivers State.

The incident, according to sources, occurred on Monday midnight around the Bodo-Bonny Road under construction in the Gokana council.

The raging fire, which is still on at the time of filing this report, was said to be spreading to the mangrove and other parts of the area with thick smoke in the air.

It was not clear if the pipeline was attacked by a third party as the cause of the incident remains unknown as of the time of this report.

Recall that some militant groups had recently threatened to attack oil facilities in the state over the political logjam between Governor Sim Fubara and his predecessor and minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
