After much political horse-trading by political heavyweights, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has picked Hon. Dennis Idahosa as its deputy governorship candidate in the September 21 Edo State governorship election.
Idahosa, who had earlier emerged as a factional candidate of the party, was said to have been pressurized into accepting to be deputy to Edo APC flagbearer, Senator Senator Monday Okpebholo, by party leaders.
The House of Representatives member emerged after series of political meetings held by Vice President Kashim Shettima with stakeholders from Edo on Sunday night.
The meeting with the Vice President was attended by the party’s flag bearer, Senator Okpebholo, former Edo Governor, Senator Adams Oshiomole and Hon. Idahosa.
APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and National Secretary, Sen. Ajibola Bashiru are to present Senator Monday Okpebholo, the party’s flag bearer and his running mate to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the APC meeting currently holding in Aso Villa.
Idahosa is to replace Hon. Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama who was announced by the governorship candidate last week as his running mate.
Idahosa lost the ticket to Okpebholo following the controversies that greeted the party’s shadow election of February 1 later concluded on February 21.
