BREAKING: Delta Records Eight New Cases Of COVID-19

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed eight new case of the coronavirus in Delta State.

This brings to 39 the number of confirmed cases in the state.

NCDC confirmed the development on Sunday on its verified Twitter handle.

NIGER DELTA TODAY Online gathered that majority of the cases were recorded in Warri, Sapele and Asaba areas of the state.

It was gathered that the new cases are persons who had contact with patients who had earlier contracted the virus in the state.

Delta has recorded six deaths with 12 patients discharged after undergoing treatment and testing negative the virus.

Thew state now has 21 active cases already undergoing treatment at various isolation centres across the state.

Warri South LGA currently top the chart of LGA in Delta with highest number of confirmed cases followed by Uvwie LGA.

The state government had earlier disclosed that it has scale-up contact tracing and testing following the establishment of testing laboratory in Asaba, the state capital.

The state also established four isolation centres at the Delta State University Teaching Hospital (DELSUTH), Oghara, Warri Central Hospital, Federal Medical Centre, Asaba and Asaba Specialist Hospital.
