The only female traditional ruler in Delta State and Omu Anioma, Her Royal Majesty, Martha Dunkwu, has reportedly passed on.
Omu Anioma also known as Queen Mother reportedly joined his ancestor at the age of 68 on Friday.
The palace sources confirmed the passage of the revered female monarch on Saturday to NIGER DELTA TODAY Online.
One of our sources disclosed that Omu Anioma passed on at a hospital in Asaba, the state capital, where she was undergoing treatment.
Our sources claimed that the traditional ruler had complained of symptoms of malaria before being taken to the hospital medical attention.
The late monarch was crowned Omu Anioma in 1999. Since then she has brought light and beauty to the once unknown female throne in Delta.
Before her enthronement over 24 years ago, the monarch was a media consultant for the late Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty, Omo n’Oba n’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo Erediauwa and the late Orodje of Okpe Kingdom in Delta State.
She had her education in England and the United States of America before returning to Nigeria work and then her enthronement.
She was one-time a board member of the National Orientation Agency (NOA) and Vice Chairman of NACCIMA.
The late Omu Anioma is highly respected by the Anioma people of Delta North, particularly the women.
Our sources said her demise would be officially announced by the palace when all traditional rites are concluded.
