Former Lagos State governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has emerged the presidential flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2023 general elections.
Tinubu defeated 22 other presidential aspirants including Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi to emerge victorious.
The National Convention/Presidential Primary of the APC is holding at Eagle Square, Abuja.
Tinubu, who is also the national leader of the party, will now face former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for next year’s election.
Over 2,000 delegates voted at the convention, held on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Eagle Square, Abuja.
Tinubu polled 1,271 votes to defeat 13 other aspirants, including a former Transport Minister, Rotimi Amaechi and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who scored 316 and 235 votes respectively.
