Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL) says it has not recorded any crude oil spillage in its facilities in Bayelsa State.
This is coming amid reports that a facility reportedly operated by Chevron at Koluama 1 community of Southern Ijaw Local Government of Bayelsa State has spilled crude content in the creeks following a leakage in the area.
In a statement on Monday signed by CNL’s General Manager – Policy, Government and Public Affairs, Mr Esimaje Brikinn, denied the development.
According to the statement made available to NIGER DELTA TODAY (NDT) Online stressed that any spill observed in the environment was not from Chevron facilities in the state.

The statement read,” Chevron Nigeria Limited (“CNL”), operator of the joint venture between the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and CNL (the NNPC/CNL JV), is aware of media reports suggesting an oil leakage from our Funiwa field in Bayelsa State.
“We wish to state that contrary to these reports, there has been no such oil leakage or spill incident at any of our facilities in Bayelsa State. Therefore, any observed crude oil in the environment is not from our operations.”
It further reiterated that CNL remained committed to protecting people and the environment as well as conducting its operations reliably and efficiently in the country.
