The Member representing Ughelli North, Ughelli South, and Udu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt Hon (Rev) Francis Ejiroghene Waive, has called on the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State to adopt Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as the party’s sole candidate for the 2027 gubernatorial elections.
Waive also endorsed Oborevwori for the most fit governorship candidate that can secure victory for APC in the 2027, and praised the governor for his development efforts since succeeding former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
The federal lawmaker disclosed this on Tuesday while addressing journalists on Tuesday, emphasising the importance of unity within the state chapter of the APC, which has been plagued by internal divisions.
He stressed that adopting Governor Oborevwori as the APC’s candidate will not only bring peace to the party but also secure a decisive victory for the APC in the upcoming elections.
The lawmaker praised Governor Oborevwori’s governance style, highlighting the strong relationship he has built with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. According to Waive, this connection demonstrates that Oborevwori is an experienced leader who understands the intricacies of governance.
“Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s excellent relationship with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu shows a man who knows what governance is all about,” Waive said.
“His performance in office has been outstanding, with people-oriented programs and quality projects that have positively impacted Deltans”, Waive stated.
Waive added that no other candidate would be able to challenge Governor Oborevwori’s position in the 2027 elections. He also noted that the governor’s move to the APC would bring significant value to the party and help resolve the ongoing crisis within the Delta APC.
According to him, “I can see Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu coasting to victory on the APC ticket,” Waive asserted. “This synergy is what APC Delta needs at this moment. Not only will it bring peace to the party, but it will also make victory certain.”
The lawmaker pointed out that the rotation of the governorship seat between the three senatorial districts of Delta State further supports the call for Oborevwori’s candidacy. With only one term left for the current governor, Waive believes it is time for the party to unite behind him.
“I call on all Deltans to support this move, as it will further unite us as a people,” Waive said, urging the party to come together for the greater good of Delta State and Nigeria.
The APC in Delta State has been embroiled in a crisis of leadership in recent months, but Waive’s call for unity and support for Governor Oborevwori may pave the way for a more cohesive party as the 2027 elections approach.
“This synergy is what APC Delta needs at this moment. Not only will this bring peace to the party, it will make victory very certain. I want victory for my party and President Tinubu. This is the way to go. Moreover, the rotation of the Governorship between the three Senatorial Districts favors Governor Sheriff who has only one term left. I call on all Deltans to support this move as it will further unite us as a people”, Waive further added.
