A former Executive Secretary of the Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (DESOPADEC) and chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, Chief Andy Osawota, has dumped the party for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
It was gathered that the political heavyweight has pitched tent with Deputy Senate President and Delta APC Governorship Candidate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.
Credible sources in Osawota’s camp revealed to reporters that he was at the GRA Effurun residence of Senator Omo-Agege late Thursday to formally inform him of his decision.
Osawota, a close ally of former Governor James Ibori, was one of the major supporters of Olorogun David Edevbie who came second in the primaries of the PDP.
He hails from Orogun in Ughelli North Local Government Area of the state.
Others said to be in attendance to receive Osawota included Omo-Agege’s running mate, Rt. Hon. Friday Osanebi as well as Delta APC Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie.
This is coming barely 24hours after a two-term former member of the Delta State House of Assembly and PDP governorship aspirant, Chief Efe Ofobruku, dumped the PDP for APC.
Ofobruku, a former member representing Uvwie State Constituency, is a grassroot politician in Uvwie LGA of the state.
