Bishop Abos Willie has been sworn in as the new chairman of the Delta State chapter of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), vowing to mobilise members for the unity of the Church in the state.
This is even as the Delta governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has promised to continue to partner the Church while delivering good governance for the people of the state.
Governor Oborevwori, represented by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Johnson Erijo, charged the new Delta PFN leadership to emulate the achievements of their predecessor under whom they had a robust collaboration as a government.
He gave the charge on Thursday at the inauguration of Bishop Abos-led Executive at the State Secretariat of PFN otherwise known Alpha and Omega City in Agbarho, Delta State.
The governor urged the Bishop Willie-led leadership to uphold the virtues of hardwork, dedication, discipline and strong character in the discharge of their new assignment under the discipleship of Christ Jesus.
In his remark, the National Vice Chairman (South-South) of PFN, Apostle Zilly Aggrey, has charged the new leadership to restore discipline and absolute adherence to the Holy Bible in their teachings and conduct.
Apostle Aggrey called for prayers for the restoration of the power of God to the Pentecostal Church and warned against teachings that are contrary the commands of Jesus.
The new executive which was inaugurated by the National Secretary of PFN, Bishop Joseph Ojo, has as Bishop Sam Oyede (state Deputy Chairman), Bishop Chinedu James (General Secretary), Dr. Daniel Ebi Kems (Treasurer), Archbishop Sunday Dieruenaba (Financial Secretary), and Bishop Jonathan Dike (Publicity Secretary).
Others inaugurated are directors including the General Manager of the Delta State Broadcasting Service (DBS), Pastor Malcolm Oteri, as State Director of Press.
In his acceptance speech, the new PFN chairman, Bishop Willie promised to build on the achievements of his predecessor as well as promote peace among members.
Bishop Willie noted that his administration will focus on the values of the Holy Bible, unity of the Churches, pursuit of integrity, purpose of the Church and increasing PFN membership in the statement.
He noted that PFN as a body will be interested in who govern the state to ensure that the dividends of democracy are felt by all people of the state.
According to him, “While the Holy Bible is our compass, we will ensure the PFN National Constitution and the State bylaws are adhered to because this will enable us to run a leadership free from offense, as they will be the guide to our leadership operations.
“We will not allow anything that will divide or tarnish the image of PFN as we will always be interested in who governs our dear Delta State to provide the dividends of democracy to the grassroots.”
Among dignitaries that attended the inauguration ceremony is the Ovie of Agbarho Kingdom, member representing Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu Federal Constituency, Rev. Francis Ejiroghene Waive, Archbishop God-Do-Well Avwomakpa, Archbishop Solomon Gbakara, Bishop Kingsley Enakirheri and Udu council chairman, Olorogun Vincent Oyibode.
