Bill And Melinda Gates Divorce 27-Year-Old Marriage, To Work Together On Foundation

Microsoft found and one of the richest men in the world, Bill Gates and his wife, Melinda, are divorced.

The world richest family announced the decision in a joint statement posted on their verified Twitter handles on Monday night.

The couple spent 27 in marriage although they have been dating since 1987 when they first met New York trade show.

The union produced three children – Phoebe Adele Gates, Rory John Gates, Jennifer Katharine Gates.

It, however, stated that though they are divorced, they would continue to work together in the Gates Fundation.

“After a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship, we have made a decision to end our marriage.

“Over the last 27 years, we have raised three incredible children and built a foundation that works all over the world to enable all people to lead healthy, productive lives.

“We continue to share a belief in that mission and will continue our work together at the foundation, but we no longer believe we can grow together as a couple in the next phase of our lives.

“We ask for space and privacy for our family as we begin to navigate this new life”, the statement jointly signed by the divorced couple said.

The couple got married on January 1, 1994 in Hawaii.

They both met at Microsoft founded by the 65-year-old Bill Gates. The 56-yeay-old Melinda worked at Microsoft where he rose through the rank to become general manager of information product.

She, however, resigned in 1996 to focus on her marriage and family.
