The member representing Okpe, Sapele and Uvwie Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Chief Efe Afe has commended the President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government for granting approval to the Delta State Government to effect repairs on failed federal roads in the state.
He also similarly lauded Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for his swift intervention towards alleviating the plights of commuters by reaching out to the federal government seeking to repair the failed portions across the state.
Afe, who addressed journalists on Wednesday, observed that the deplorable nature of the roads particularly the Benin-Sapele/Warri road has been embarrassing to the people of the region.

He lamented the pains commuters and motorists had to go through while trying to navigate alternative routes just to arrive at their destinations.
Afe, whose constituency is affected by the bad portions, said the Adeje and Mosogar sections along the Benin/Warri road were worst hit by the deplorable state.
The federal lawmaker, while appealing to the contractors that are handling the rehabilitation works to do quality jobs, there was need for a total reconstruction of some the roads by the federal government.
He, however, appealed to the federal government to immediately reimburse the Delta government upon completion of the construction so as to spur the state to do more when the need arises in future.

While also commending the Buhari’s government approving contracts for roads construction worth over N182 Billion, Hon. Afe lamented the exclusion of Delta roads from the list of the projects approved by Mr President.
The former Delta Assembly lawmaker noted that the Ughelli-Asaba Road which connects the state to the South- Eastern part of the country is also in dare need of urgent attention from the federal government.
He equally appealed to Governor Okowa to intervene in repairing some failed portions along Effurun NPA Expressway especially the Effurun roundabout and the NigerCat area of Ekpan.
According to him, commuters and motorists are finding it difficult to ply the road.
