The Governor-elect of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri and his deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo are to be inaugurated as governor and deputy tonight (Friday) at the Government House in Yenagoa, the state capital.
It was learnt that preparation for a low-key inauguration had been completed waiting for the arrival of the duo from Abuja where the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) presented their certificates of return to them.
NIGER DELTA TODAY‘s correspondent in the state reports that once the governor-elect and his deputy arrive the state, they will head for the inauguration venue where some leaders of the party were already waiting.

The Supreme Court had on Thursday sacked the winner of the governorship election and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), David Lyon, and his running mate, Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo over alleged forged certificates by the deputy-elect.
The Supreme Court also ordered INEC to issue certificate to the run-up and candidate of the PDP, Douye Diri as the winner of the election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission on Friday morning had issued a Certificate of Return to Diri in compliance with the verdict of the Supreme Court.
Meanwhile, security has been beefed up around the Government House following protests that trailed the sacking of David Lyon by the Supreme Court on Friday.
