The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has suspended the eight-month-old strike embarked upon by members of the Union.
ASUU has been on strike since February 14, 2022 to demand for implementation of the agreement reached with the Federal Government to improve the nation’s institutions.
The Union announced the suspension after a meeting with the leadership of the House of Representatives under the leadership of Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila.
ASUU President, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, had earlier announced that the union will be calling-off the strike in days.
The striking body also confirmed the suspension in a post on its twitter handle on Friday morning.
According to the tweet, ASUU said “Congratulations Nigerian Students. The 8-Months Strike has been suspended conditionally, Universities to reopen on Monday, 17th October , 2022.”
