The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate of Ikwo/ Ezza South federal constituency Ebonyi state in the just concluded National Assembly elections, Comrade Chinedu Ogah, on Saturday commended his constituents for voting massively for him and President Muhammadu Buhari in the elections.
Buhari secured over 20,000 votes in Ikwo LGA to beat PDP candidate, Atiku Abubakar who scored 16,000 votes.
Ikwo was the only local government area the President won in Ebonyi out of the 13 local government areas in the state.
Ogah, who however, came second in the election for Ikwo/Ezza Federal Constituency in the results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), polled 21,000 votes against his PDP rival, Hon. Laz Ogbee who polled 31,000 votes to win the election.
He said the people of the area and the entire constituency made him and Buhari proud in the election.
The APC candidate gave the commendation on Saturday during a thank you rally in Ohatekwe Amagu Community in Ikwo local government area of Ebonyi State.
Ogah noted that in spite of the huge intimidation and harassment from the ruling party in the state, his supporters voted massively for the re-election of Buhari in the election.
While commending the people of the constituency, he said he will reclaim his mandate in no distant time through the law court.
Ogah further urged his supporters to desist from violence and call on the state commissioner of police CP Awoshola Awotunde, to stop the unwarranted intimidation and manhunt on his supporters from Ndiegu amagu ikwo by the opposition.
According to him the opposition party in the state is threatening, intimidating, harassing his supporters and deprive them from their farming activities with facetious petition against them.
According him, “I am here to thank you for voting for me and President Muhammadu Buhari during the Presidential and National Assembly elections. Irrespective of what the outcome was, don’t fight. Don’t cause troubles. We will reclaim our mandate.
“For standing with me and cast your votes for APC despite the intimidations and harassment, Your problem is my problem, if you have problem come and share it with me because I will continue to be the bridge between the poor and the rich in Ikwo local government.
“Continue to stand by the truth, we believe we can achieve our mandate without violent, don’t fight and if anybody attacks you go and report to the police.”
Ogah, however, warned against fraudulent arrest and intimidation of the people of the area, adding, “The police should do the right thing. We are here to liberate Ikwo land. Time has gone when some people subject our people to hardship. Nobody should arrest our people illegally.”
Chinedu Ogah who is a well known philanthropist, used the medium to award University Scholarship to one of his supporters who lost admission in 2014 because he could not pay his school fees in Ebonyi State University, Alidor Jonah he also placed the boy on N30,000 monthly stipend.
In their remarks, the south east Zonal Secretary of APC Mr John Uwede, and Dr. Anthony Ituma of Political Science department Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki thanked the people of Ikwo Noyo for supporting their son comrade Ogah and assured them that the stolen mandate will be reclaimed as Chinedu Ogah never lost in the election.
Mr Jonah urged the voters to continue to support APC as the party will not disappoint them.
