By Osahon Osahon

With over two hours into the voting exercise, officials of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) are yet to arrive with voting materials at Central School, Mgbakwu, Awka North local government area of the state.

As at 11.30 am, the people of the community were still awaiting voting materials from Awka, the State capital, a journey of less that 20 minutes.

Party agents and voters were seen sitting under palm trees at the Central School, where there are two voting units (001 and 002).

They lamented the non arrival of materials.

The agent of Zenith Labour Party, Honourable Benneth Aniezeofor, said that the development will have a negative affect on the election as people lose interest in the exercise.

He said: “The late arrival of materials will disenfranchise many voters. People might run out of patience and leave, and that is not good for the election.”

Another residence, who pleaded anonymity, said he got information that the vehicle in which the materials were being convayed to the community broke down on the way.
