Nigeria’s electoral umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has said that it has moved very far from the era of petty rigging allegations.
The Chief Press Secretary to National Chairman of INEC, Rotimi Oyekanmi, stated this while reacting to allegations by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Recall that the PDP in a statement on Sunday alleged that the electoral body intends to hand over electoral materials for the Anambra governorship election, to Governor Uzodinma by storing them in Imo state.
The party noted that storing the election materials amount to rigging the election before its conduct.

But, Oyekanmi in his reaction to the allegation, noted that INEC will not be distracted by familiar but unfounded allegations about an imaginary plot to rig the Anambra Governorship election.
He urged any individual or political party with evidence of plot to rig the election to make it public, rather than make spurious allegations.
“I can say without any fear of contradiction that no court of law has annulled any governorship election conducted by the Mahmood Yakubu-led Commission since its inauguration in December 2015, for rigging,” he said.
