Amb. Akporode Clark: Omo-Agege, Delta APC, Condole Clark Over Brother’s Death

The Deputy Senate President and Delta APC Gubernatorial Candidate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, and the Campaign Organisation have commiserated with elder statesman, Chief Edwin Clark over the demise of his younger brother and renowned diplomat, Ambassador Blessing Akporode Clark, CON.

A statement by the Director, Communications and Media Strategy of the campaign organisation, Ima Niboro, described the deceased as a highly respected diplomat with an unblemished record of service.

According to the campaign spokesperson, Ambassador Clark’s long career in public service was a testament to his dedication to the Nigerian people.

The deceased who died on Tuesday in Lagos at the age of 92 is the younger brother of former Federal Commissioner for Information and South South Leader, Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark.

Ambassador Clark was Nigeria’s ambassador to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU); ambassador to Switzerland and Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva. He was also ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, New York.

Niboro extolled his record of impeccable public service, noting that “the death of Ambassador Blessing Akporode Clark,CON, comes as a shock to our campaign organisation because we lost him at a critical point when his vast and valuable experience, knowledge, and wisdom are needed by Nigeria.

“The former Nigerian Ambassador to Ethiopia, Permanent Representative to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) now African Union, Ambassador to Switzerland and Permanent Representative to the United Nations as well as Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations was a man of impeccable character, a reputation he kept unsoiled throughout his extensive public service career.

“We are proud of his unblemished record of integrity and selfless service and for being a good ambassador not only of Delta State but the Niger Delta, Nigeria and Africa as a whole”.

The campaign organization extended condolences to Chief E.K Clark, the Bekederemo-Fuludu-Clark family of Kiagbodo Town in Burutu Local Government Area, the Delta and the Federal Governments over the loss of the foremost diplomat and prayed Almighty God to grant his soul eternal rest.
