By Eseoghene Emuke

The Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Power and member representing Ughelli North, South and Udu Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Rev. Francis Ejiroghene Waive says those fighting the Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege will as usual fail with their evil scheming.

Waive said the allegation that the Deputy President of the Senate was convicted by a Californian court in the United States of America was not only false but an envy taken too far especially from his kinsmen.

In a statement personally signed by lawmaker and made available to our correspondent on Thursday, Waive, who is the only APC House of Rep member from Delta State, urged those behind the false allegation to immediately down tools.

He was reacting to calls by Civil Society Groups led by Solomon Adodo asking Omo-Agege to resign his position over his alleged conviction in the US.

An allegation Omo-Agege had consistently denied, saying that though he was tried but was never convicted for any offence in the States.

However, Rev. Waive in the statement called on Urhobo leaders to rally round the number two senator in the ninth National Assembly and call on those behind the sponsored allegation to stop.

According to him, “As the Honourable member representing Ughelli North Ughelli South Udu Constituency in the House of Representatives I just can’t be quiet when I see detractors working hard to destroy our own.

“No ethnic nationality in this country engages in fighting her top government functionaries. The Almighty God has blessed us for the first time in history with someone at the top in the Federal Government. We must not allow miscreants to rubbish our blessing for any reason.

“I call on our leaders to reach out to these fifth columnists and their sponsors individually and stop this madness. His Excellency Distinguished Senator Ovie OmoAgege is well positioned in this Next Level government to bring our people needed national attentional.

“And good enough he is taking the bull by the horn. All distractions must stop forthwith to enable our people derive the maximum benefits from his position. We must look beyond individual benefits and grudges to the common and greater good of us all.”

The Rep member, however, appealed to Senator Omo-Agege to remain steadfast in his moment of trial, saying that the Deputy President of the Senate has the blessings of God and the support of his people to defeat those behind the allegation.

“I call on our Distinguished Senator to overlook the noise of the mischief makers and concentrate on his divine assignment for our people. Such is the prize rare men called for such a time as this have to pay. And our God remains faithful to protect and bless you.

I assure His Excellency of my continued support, prayers and goodwill as he continues to work for our people” Waive further added.
