Governor Okowa of Delta State

The people of Aladja in Udu and Isaba in Warri South West Local Government Areas of Delta State have finally put the over three years old communal crisis which resulted to loss of lives and properties between both communities to an end, and had decided to embrace peace to live as neigbours.

The landmark peace settlement was brokered by Delta State Government through the Special Adviser to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on Peace Building and Conflict Resolution, Chief Edwin Uzor.

Both communities had therefore signed a peace pact to end 43 months feud and rekindled the once peaceful living between both communities.

 The peace pact was jointly signed by the Ovie of Udu kingdom, HRM Emmanuel Delekpe and the regent of Isaba kingdom, High Chief John Ekpenzu. The peace signing ceremony was witnessed by the peace committee-led by Chief Uzor and members of both communities.

Chief Uzor-led committee has been visiting both communities as part of efforts to broker peace among the two neighbouring communities in the crisis which started since 2016.

An elated Chief Uzor, while expressing joy that the crisis has been put to an end, stressed that Governor Okowa had invested so much to build a stronger Delta in spite of its complexity.

The two council chairmen of Udu LGA, Hon Jite Brown and, Warri South LGA, Hon Taiye Tuoyo, also witnessed the signing of the peace agreement between Aladja and Isaba.

Uzor stated that the state government, through his office, had successfully addressed over 85 percent of more than 300 conflict cases in recent times, adding that the efforts of Governor Okowa in ensuring that the state  remains peaceful should be commended.

He assured that the state governor has promised to construct the road linking both communities to fast-track development to the area.

He urged youths in the two communities and other parts of the state to always live in give peace, saying that there can never be development in absence of chance.

 “Nothing is difficult before God and I believe that every matter in the state must be settled. What has happened here today is that the good people of Aladja and Isaba communities have sealed the agreement that there will coexist peacefully the way they have done over the years” Uzor said.

On their parts, the Chairman of Udu LGA, Hon Jite Brown and his colleague from Warri South, Hon Taiye Tuoyo expressed gratitude to Chief Uzor and the state government for wading into the conflict and resolving it.
