The Niger Delta Advancement Awards 7.0 powered by JUVENIS’ Mag/TV has unveiled the list of nominees on Friday 18th, October 2024 at Seven Oases Event Center, Port Harcourt with media houses, celebrities and dignitaries in attendance.
According to the President/Founder of Niger Delta Advancement Awards, Mr. Oxford T. Okpalefe, who answered various questions from journalists and people in attendance, said “after organizing 6 editions, we had to go on break to review what we did, work on the feedback, inject new ideas, give some time and come back better with more fire”.
Speaking further, he said ” when we returned, we put out a press release and began call for nominations. 30, 113 entries were received as entries in the call for nominations that started on the 7th of September and closed on the 30th of September 2024 which was done online with the use of Google form. Thereafter, we did our compilations, carried out an extensive research and consultations with stakeholders of different categories across the 9 states of the Niger Delta and came up with a comprehensive list”.
With the return of Niger Delta Advancement Awards, the President/Founder, Mr. Oxford T. Okpalefe spoke further; ” we have increased the nominations from Top 9 to Top 15 in each category. Each State of the Niger Delta (Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Ondo, Imo and Abia) must have at least one nomination. We also created new categories making it total of 52 categories that we now have that cut across all sectors”.
On where the event will be held, Mr. Oxford T. Okpalefe said ” in the past 6 editions, we have gone to the major states of the Niger Delta and showcased the event to them. Going forward, the event will be held every year in Port Harcourt except there is a sponsorship from a state government that is when we will host it in another state”.
On voting for nominees, he said; “it used to be SMS voting where people send messages to a short code which was tiring because if someone needed to send 100 votes, the person will have to send 100 SMS.. With the new technology in vogue, we are using our website for voting which is now easier and seamless”.
With the preparations ongoing, the President/Founder, Mr. Oxford T. Okpalefe says; “The Niger Delta Advancement Awards 7.0 holds on Saturday 25th, January 2025 at The Arena Event Centre, G.R.A., Port Harcourt and entry tickets are available in various types for individuals and corporate organizations that want to be part of the event which comes with lots of benefits.
