In renewed efforts to bridge the Information Communication Technology gap in rural communities in Niger Delta, the Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC) Limited and its Joint Venture Partners have donated an ultra-modern ICT Centre to Obrikom Community in Ogba Egbema Ndoni LGA, Rivers State.
Speaking while commissioning the project which was attended by hundreds of elated Obrikom community indigenes , the Executive Chairman, Ogba Egbema Ndoni LGA, Hon. Ifeanyi Odili commended NAOC and its Joint Venture Partners, NNPC and Oando for the gesture.
The ONELGA council boss noted that the ICT Centre will create enormous impact within Obrikom Community and its neighboring communities as well as open the area to the jet age.
In his remarks during the ceremony, the General Manager District, NAOC, Tiani Alessandro said that as the world is contemporarily ICT driven, it was imperative for the JV Partners to donate a project that will be sustainable as the company aims to impact positively on the communities it operates.
The General Manager District, represented at the occasion by the Stakeholders Management and Community Development Division Manager, Dennis Masi, also noted that the impact of the project in Obrikom Community cannot be over-emphasized.
In his remarks, the member representing Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Constituency II in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Nathaniel Uwaji while commending the community for their peaceful disposition, thanked the NAOC JV for the good gesture.
Earlier in his remarks, the Managing Director Oando Oil Limited represented by the Community Relations Manager, Chief Samuel Onyenwe noted that Oando is happy to identify with the development of Obrikom Community.
In his welcome address, the Obrikom Community Development Committee Chairman, Gift Nkweke thanked NAOC JV for the endowment, noting that the ICT Centre was very important to the Community as no society can function effectively in today’s world where virtually all human activities are ICT-based.
The Obrikom ICT Centre consist of 32no. Lenovo Desktop Computers, HP Jet Printers and accessories, wall mountable stabilizer, Inverter-UPS System and various accessories.
Present during the event were the Vice Chairman, Ogba Egbema Ndoni L.G.A, Hon. (Mrs.) Christiana Obiazi Adiela, Chief of Staff, Ogba Egbema Ndoni L.G.A, Hon. Chijioke Ejebide, IEME Manager, NAOC, Naina Osima, Assistant Manager, Government Relations, Uloma Olosunde, Community Relations Officer, Oando, Orok Rosta, Paramount Ruler, Obrikom, Eze Christian Nkisa, Councillor representing Ward 5, ONELGA Legislative Council, Hon. Azubuike Awuye as well as youths and women representatives.
