Agbi Monitors Ongoing Projects In Agbor, Lauds Contractor At Delta Varsity

The Special Adviser to the Delta State Government on Projects Monitoring and Audit, Engr. Goodnews Agbi, has commended the contractor handling construction works at the College of Medicine, University of Delta, Agbor, for the standard and progress of works being done in the University.

Agbi, however, assured that the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori-led administration is committed to the speedy completion of ongoing projects across the state.

He gave the commendation on Tuesday when he led top officials of the state government political appointees on the inspection of ongoing projects in Agbor and Ika axis of the state in furtherance of Governor Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda.

Speaking at the College of Medicine, University of Delta, Agbi commended the contractor for delivering the project according to specification, stating that with the progress of work, the project will be completed within the time frame given to the contractor.

The Special Adviser disclosed that Oborevwori’s administration will deliver quality projects that would stand the test of time, vowing that the era of poor project delivery was gone under the current government.

Agbi, who however made minor corrections to one of the projects, tasked the engineers handling the projects to sustain the momentum.

“This is the type of standard the Governor wants and it is in consonant with MORE AGENDA. We are happy with the progress of works and we are urging the contractor to sustain it. I commend the contractor for good workmanship. The columns are in perfect alignment, the slump is okay and it was in tandem with the slump test shown to him earlier”, he stated.

Engr Agbi with the Project Monitoring and Audit team conducted an extensive site visit to different project sites in Agbor.

At another site visited, the monitoring team was informed of some challenges the contractor handling the projects was encountering.

The Regional Engineer in charge of projects in Agbor, Engr. Nkem Chiadike, who received the team, had informed Agbi that some of the contractors have not fully mobilized to site.

She explained that most of the contractors were currently meeting with the Commissioner of Works and expressed optimism that the contractors not site would soon mobilize and to start work.

The projects are the Orikeze Avenue Junction through Obi, Enumah and Uromi Roads to Orogodo River. She handed over the Bill of Engineering Measurement and Evaluation (BEME) to Engr. Agbi and assured that the projects would commence soon.

In some other roads inspected the Special Adviser, Engr. Agbi observed that the work has been abandoned and asked to be briefed on the possible reasons for the abandonment.

Agbi was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Esejo; Executive Assistants to the Governor, Sese Omu; Senior Special Assistants to the Governor, Christian Amori and Pastor Ken Atuya.
