Dr. Dan Ella, a lecturer with the University Jos, Plateau State, has been reportedly been abducted by unknown gunmen.
Ella was abducted on Wednesday when armed men stormed his home at Haske Quarters of Lamingo community in Jos North Local Government Area of the state.
The victim, who is a lecturer with the Department of Theatre Arts, was said to have been forcefully whisked away by his captors.
The incident occurred at 3am on Wednesday.

A resident of the community, Philip Gyang, confirmed the incident to newsmen in Jos.
Gyang told newsmen that the gunmen shot sporadically to enable them gained access to the home of their target.
The incident, it was gathered, resulted in apprehension among residents of the community.
Gyang said, “What happened last night in Haske quarters was terrible. It was the sounds of gunshots that woke us up around 3am. But we could not come out when it became clear that Haske quarters was under attack by gunmen.”
Also confirming the abduction of the lecturer, Chairman of the University of Jos branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Dr Lazarus Maigoro, “It’s true because I just received an official report on the kidnap of one of our members in Lamingo area last night. I’m preparing a press release on the incident.
“Something has to be done about this kidnapping of innocent people because it’s really sad and should not be allowed to continue.”

Although the state Police Public Relations Officer, Ubah Ogaba, could not been reached for official response, a senior police officer confirmed the kidnap of the lecturer.
Recall that a professor with the Department of Medical Microbiology, University of Jos, Grace Ayanbimpe, was kidnapped last month by unknown gunmen.
