Again, Gunmen Attack Okuokoko Residents, Abduct Landlord In Delta

Residents of Freshville Estate area of Okuokoko in Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State were under heavy attack in the early hours of Thursday when gunmen attacked the area.

it was gathered that the gunmen, however, abducted a landlord during the attack.

The gunmen were said to have stormed the estate about 1am and operated for about four hours amidst sporadic shootings.

It was learnt that the gunmen number ten chased away security personnel attached to the estate away during a gun duel.

“Our lives are no longer save. We have been helpless since 1am when the bandits struck. They have been shooting and moving from house-to-house. One of the landlords who is an oil worker has been kidnapped”, a resident told NIGER DELTA TODAY Online.

Lamenting the incident, residents called on the commissioner of police in the state to beef up security in the area to prevent the constant attacks on them by criminals.

They said the gunmen gain access into the estate through the fence of the campus two of the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) Effurun.

This is coming barely two months after gunmen attacked the estate killing one its residents.

Residents of Freshville Estate have remained constantly under criminal attacks for months with many residents and house owners now moving out of the area for fear of being killed.

Contacted, spokesman of the Delta State Police Command, DSP Bright Edafe, said he had not been briefed of the incident.
