Again, Cult Clash Leaves Two Killed In Bayelsa

No fewer than two persons have been reported feared killed in a renewed cult clash rival cult groups on Tuesday night in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.

The incident was said to have created panic among residents of the state capital.

Sources told our correspondent that the two victims were shot dead around the Kpansia school field area of the town.

One of the deceased was identified as Prince, who they claimed was a second-in-command to one of the notorious cult groups in the state.

 It was also gathered that the killing at Kpansia has thrown the residents of Kpansia, Biogbolo and Yenezuegene communities have been living in fear.

 The armed cultists also attacked and dispossessed traders and residents of Ebis, Greenvilla, and Samphino streets during the clash.

A Bayelsa based blogger, Apostle Bodmas kemepadei, while confirming the development, said “As I write, some business owners in the above aforementioned places have locked up their businesses for fear of attack.

“There have been reported cases of several cult clashes, a young boy was killed yesterday at Kpansia, others injured. The situation is becoming worse.

“I wish to utilize this opportunity to appeal to His Excellency Governor Douye Diri, to please arrest the situation, I propose the immediate re-organisation and constitution of the Bayelsa State Volunteer and vigilante network as a matter of urgency.”

 “The Police force should also be strengthened and provided with the necessary equipments to allow them perform effectively. More importantly, a peace and conflict resolution team cutting across all party lines should also be constituted.

The truth is, our brothers have gone haywire, and if we don’t curtail them now, our streets may be filled with bloods, while our mothers mourn in tears. I also appeal to our brothers to give peace a chance, no investor will want to invest in a violent environment”, he further added.
